Resource Guide, Links and Helpful Info

This section will eventually include numerous articles, links and information on turtles and tortoises.

While we are busy constructing this area, there are two things you should know.

1.  If you find a turtle in the wild, even in a busy area, the best thing to do (most of the time) is to help the turtle across the road in the direction he/she is headed.  If it’s not on a road, leave the turtle alone.  NEVER move a turtle to a park, woods, pond or creek as it will recognize it has been moved and will try to return to its “home range.”  This often puts the turtle in more danger than it was in when you found it.  In most states, it is also illegal to take a turtle out of the wild or even to move them to a different area.  If it is a native turtle to your area, the best thing to do is to help it avoid immediate danger, and then allow it to go on its way.

2. Visit www.turtleforum.com for the best help and information out there.  The turtle forum site and many of its members have been active in the community for more than a decade (and some for a few decades). If you need immediate answers or more information, this is the place to go!  I post there regularly, so look for me under the name “Joshua S.”
